    Quality Jacket Had this jacket 2 yrs now and its seen use all of the world, from backpacking around New Zealand, climbing in Europe, long distance walks across the UK and just popping to the local for an ale or 3! Great fit even with lanky arms, always kept me dry even in torrential rain and gale force winds on Crib Goch. 10 October 2011
    A "do everything" jacket. I had an XXL version of the old RG1 jacket, with the elasticated cuffs and shinier material. I loved it, apart from the cuffs and the feeling that the material was a bit fragile despite never ripping it, and it looking like new for the 4 years I had it. However I lost 6 stone and needed a smaller jacket so I bought one from a well known American manufacturer and regretted that decision! Fortunately I lost some more weight and needed a size medium, so the next stop was Berghaus for the new RG1 jacket. I liked the feel of the new material, a heavyweight woven Aquafoil, and I liked the fact that the elasticated cuffs had been replaced with velcro straps. Trying it on in the shop, it was clear that the usual Berghaus quality and fit was there too. I've now had it for 10 months and use it as my only coat. It does everything from walking, going to work meetings, a summer jacket over a shirt, the occasional lunchtime trip on the bike into town. And it does it all looking classy and always, without fail keeps me dry. The fit is good too, it allows layering up in colder weather without looking bulky when worn over a T-shirt or shirt. The high neck is great, keeping a pocket of warm air around your neck, even when it's chilly. The one downside is a lack of inner pocket however as it's not a lined jacket, I can't mark it down for that. It's pretty much perfectly tailored to my needs. If I ever lose any more weight, I'll be buying the smaller size again! 15 November 2010
